Black-tailed Deer

It's been a while since I've seen a Black-tailed Deer at TRNWR. This one, as some are there, was pretty tolerant of me and never did flee as I passed by it.

Just before I ran into the rash of Fox Sparrows and Hermit Thrushes on Bayocean Spit a week ago Saturday, I came across this Black-tailed Deer. It was just standing there staring it at me. Finally, after 30 seconds or so, it turned and slowly walked off into the thicket behind it. As I moved in a little closer I could see that there were actually two more Deer further back.

This was taken during a lunch break at TRNWR. I took pictures of nine different birds and this Black-tailed Deer in that half hour. There were actually two deer, but one was in the woods a little further. I actually didn't see it at first, but then it flicked its tail a few times and I happened to notice it through the branches. This one eventually followed the other into the woods and they both disappeared.
