I spent an afternoon at Corn Creek in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge NW of Las Vegas. It's a small, spring-fed oasis in the desert that's a magnet for birds (or so I've read). Although the time of year, time of day and fairly heavy winds kept my bird sightings somewhat low, I did see four certain new lifetime birds.
This Northern Mockingbird seemed to be as curious of me as I was of it. It allowed me to get fairly close and stuck around long enough for me to get many pictures.
